Admit it: we have all experienced a moment so embarrassing that we would have wanted to disappear underground. Well, Jackson Rathbone, aka Jasper Cullen in Twilight, shared a pretty juicy one… and it involves the great Ron Howard. Spoiler: it ends in tears in his car.
😅 The meeting that turns into a fiasco
During a panel at the Chicago Fan Expo on August 17, 2025, Jackson confided about “the most embarrassing moment” of his career.
Flashback: at that time, he was vying for a role in The Dark Tower, an adaptation of Stephen King for which Ron Howard was attached as director.
The problem? Jackson, who had overcome a stutter thanks to years of speech therapy, found himself so stressed in front of Howard… that his stutter returned at full force.
“He said to me: ‘So, I heard you were in a band. Tell me about that.’ And I was stammering: ‘I… I… I… I am… I am in… in a… in a band…’”
A real nightmare.
😭 The post-meeting tears
Jackson admitted that after this failed meeting, he locked himself in his car and cried for 30 minutes.
But luckily, Ron Howard was lovely: he took it humorously, without making it a drama. “The nicest guy in the world,” Jackson summarized.
💡 The lesson behind failure
In hindsight, the actor understood that he was not alone. While talking with other actors, he realized that everyone has experienced moments of shame in front of big names.
Someone even told him:
“Do you think this was the first time Ron Howard saw an actor panic? Of course not. You have to move on and stop looking behind you.”
A valuable piece of advice, especially knowing that the project The Dark Tower ultimately ended up being a critical and commercial failure despite its huge cast (Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey…). In short, even if it had gone well, nothing guaranteed Jackson a role.
🌟 Today: serenity and self-deprecation
In the end, Jackson Rathbone turned this humiliating moment into a funny and inspiring story. And honestly, we love it when our stars play the card of sincerity (and self-deprecation). It makes them feel even closer to us.
👉 Verdict? Jasper Cullen or not, Jackson remains human above all, and his story reminds us that we all have our fails. What matters is to keep moving forward. 💪
